2024 Olympic Games Qualifiers : Black Queens head coach reacts to victory over Guinea in Conakry

The Black Queens of Ghana secured a huge victory over Guinea at the Stade General Lansana Conte in Conakry in their first phase of the 2024 Olympic games qualifiers.

The Black Queens took off a flying start and were rewarded in the 19th minute through Vivian Adjei Konadu.

Hasaacas Ladies goal poacher, Doris Boaduwaa extended Ghana’s advantage to 2-0 in the 27th minute to ensure the Queens goes to the break with a comfortable 2-0 lead.

The Guineans were however reduced to 10 players in the early minutes of the second half when Camara Manet was shown a red card for a reckless challenge on a Ghanaian attacker.

Norway based Evelyn Badu sealed the victory for the West African giant in the 72nd minute, feeding on a tailor-measured pass from Mary Amponsah on the edge of the box, to take the scoreline to 3-0.

Addressing the Guinean press in a post match interview, Coach Nora Hauptle  says, “I think we’ve had a good start in the Olympic games qualifiers, we won this game by 3-0.

We had some issues before the start of the game so it had to be delayed for an hour but we always adapt to all these challenges“.

We had a difficult time with the hard grass, it’s a bumpy pitch but we had a stable start and I think the score should have been a little more higher“.

We had a good analysis of the opponent and I think we didn’t let them near any chances. In the end I’m very satisfied and we are looking forward to traveling to mother Ghana and having the second leg done“, she told the Guinean press.

This huge 3-0 victory gives the Black Queens a significant advantage heading into the second leg which comes off on Tuesday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
