It seems that the Sudanese club Al Hilal wanted an Ivorian goalkeeper. They have just recruited the Ivorian international goalkeeper Issa Fofana instead of his compatriot Tapé Ira Eliezer. The latter was expected to join the giant of Omdurman but a problem at the medical examination had prevented this transaction. Al Hilal returned to look for a keeper in Côte d’Ivoire and especially in FC San Pedro where Tapé was discovered just like Fofana. At the Petrucians, Fofana is the one who took Tapé’s place during the 2021-2022 season. He played 26 matches for 15 clean sheets.
“The young goalkeeper of FC SAN-PEDRO flew this afternoon to Sudan where a 3-year contract with two options with AL HILAL of Sudan awaits him. Despite his undeniable importance in the orange and black cauldron, the Petrucian management has agreed to let him go to take another step in his young and promising career. The biggest challenge for Fofana Issa remains the next African Cup of Nations in his country. That’s why we hope that this challenge in this great club of the continent will allow him to get his first chance with regard to his elders playing in other African clubs who have their chance in the senior team, “ wrote San Pedro in a statement on Friday, August 13.
