Transfer News: André Ayew signs for Nottingham Forest (official)

After amicably terminating his contract with Qatari club Al-Sadd, where he scored 18 goals in 29 games played, Andre Ayew (33) will make his return to the Premier League. The former Swansea player has reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest. The captain of the Black Stars of Ghana has signed a six-month contract. He will wear the number 42.

“Nottingham Forest are delighted to announce the signing of Ghana captain Andre Ayew. The striker joins on a free transfer following his recent move from Al Sadd and has signed a contract until the end of the season. Andre will wear the number 42 during his stay at Trentside,” the statement said.

The captain of the Black Stars of Ghana did not hide his joy: “It is a great feeling to sign for Nottingham Forest. I know how great the club is and I know how much the club means to the city and the fans. It has always been tough every time I have played against Forest and at the City Ground and I love the stadium.”

He joins an arsenal of African players like Serge Aurier, Check Kouyate, Willy Boli at Forest.

Ayew is back to English topflight after a series of previous spells notably with West Ham United. He is no stranger to the life in the UK as he had spells with QP Rangers in the second tier.

The team has been battling relegation since the start of the campaign this season and Ayew’s experience is needed in the fight.
