The Republic of Congo and the Basile Boli Campus Academy (ABB Campus) are about to sign an agreement for the implementation of a training project for young footballers whose ages range from 14 to 18 years. This is what we can learn from the meeting that took place on October 5 in Brazzaville between the Congolese Minister of Sports and Youth, Hugues Ngouelondé and the former French international, Basile Boli, owner of ABB Campus.
“I came to see how we can bring the coaches in the coming days in Brazzaville to detect in order to sport-study. It is to follow the kids from 14 years to 18 years after a detection. The coaches will choose the kids to take them to Europe in the BB campus Academy”, explained the former OM central defender (1990-1994) at the end of the interview.
The two men visited the National Football Training Center (CNFF). A structure that trained young talents including the African junior champions in 2007, is now at a standstill.
However, “it is still gold. We just have to clean it even when there is dust. It’s a question of organization,” exclaimed the 50-year-old. A visit that is anything but trivial, because the CNFF was the result in 2005 of a project carried out in partnership between the Congo and AJ Auxerre, the club that trained the former French international (1986-1993).
Born in Abidjan, the name of Basile is closely linked to the history of Olympique de Marseille. It is indeed him, the son of the Adjamé district who, in the final of the Champions League against AC Milan in 1993 scored the only goal of the match.
